Hello, it’s me Mizan, Md. Mizanur Rahman, Programme Manager for Manab Mukti Sangstha (MMS) – an Implementing Organisation for CLP. I am married to Jamin Sultan who is a lecturer of economics in college and I have two kids, one daughter of eight years and one son of three years. I live with my family in Comilla where we are very happy.

I completed my Masters of Social Science degree in Social welfare from National University of Bangladesh & before that I did my Bachelor of Social Science (honors) in Social Welfare from the Same University.

I have about ten years work experience at the senior level position of Project /Program management and a total 16 years in different National and International Development organisations in the field of Livelihoods, Food Security, Non-formal Education, Disaster Management, Good governance and Capacity Building with different stakeholders.

I started my career when I was student of Higher Secondary level as Program organizer (Part time 36 hours a week) on July 1st, 1996 at a newly established local level organization named Development for Society in Comilla. Then I was promoted to Program organizer (Accounts), Area Manager in the same organization. After that I worked for a year in the Centre for Mass Education in Science (CMES) and a year in the Peoples’ Oriented Programme Implementation (POPI). A turning point in my development career was at Dhaka Ahsania Mission for SHOUHARDO Programme where I was appointed for 3.5 years as an Upazila Project Officer. Here I learnt and gained huge experience in the fields of food security; sustainable livelihoods; Disaster management; good governance and using holistic approaches to poverty alleviation . I then worked at National Development Programme – NDP for 3.5 years in an unique programme “Food Security for the Ultra Poor”, a project funded by European Commission and supported by the World Food Programme. Then I became employed by the international organization World Fish Bangladesh for about one year as Project.

Coordinator of “Climate Change Agriculture and Food Security project –CCAFS project. After that on 23rd February 2013 I joined in CLP family as Programme Manager of IMO named Manab Mukti Sangstha (MMS), competing with high level candidates during the selection process.

In my current position I am responsible to ensure smooth implementation of the overall CLP activities and especially supervise the Infrastructure Development unit, Livelihoods Development unit, Human Development Unit, Primary Health Care & Family Planning project, IMO management Unit, IML unit of CLP programme and Donor correspondence, Liaison, linkage with programme stakeholders.

I am very happy to work in MMS since MMS has a wonderful working environment where from bottom to top everybody is very much cooperative and have a commitment to work for the people who are most vulnerable and in disaster prone areas. I am getting friendly support from the Deputy Director of MMS, SM Amir hossain Bhai, as well as my director Habib ullah Bahar Bhai to smooth operations and implement the CLP programme.

It’s my grand pleasure to work with CLP where I can contribute to ensure sustainable livelihoods to chars dwellers so that they come out of poverty, can improve responses after shocks of natural disasters such river erosion, flash flood and so on. In this programme I got diverse work, working in social development, village savings and loan groups, health, nutrition, infrastructure, livelihoods, land support and milk markets development projects all under one umbrella. This experience enriches my credentials and career path and broaden my knowledge in sustainable development as well as real development.

At the end, from the deep in my heart I feel proud whenever I saw a very cheerful smiling face & strong belief on the eyes of CLP core participant households that they are on right highway to change their fate.

From my side, my future dream is to become pioneer development worker, contributing to build a hunger free world and continue combating poverty. Thanks everybody.
